About me collage with portrait books painting flowers bat wings

If your dream day involves crafting while listening to something bookish you’ll feel right at home here.

If you love a different genre depending on your mood, obsess over a new book boyfriend every week, want to pledge allegiance to a new Queen and aaaalso happen to relax while creating the prettiest of things, you’re in the right place. Also, lets be friends.

I have a feeling that, like myself, us crafty readers (or bookish crafters) tend to be introverts. And while that brings about blissfully solitary days and weeks of relaxed, clear minded and inspired battery charging, if we let ourselves hermit for too long we will accidentally feel a bit rubbish.

So this is what I’m thinking: let’s take our favourite day and share it with friends sometimes, lets add crafts and books to more girls nights, but make it a whole thing. Let’s make something that our favourite book character would make, dress up, decorate, eat something fun that fits, mocktail a drink they’d totally have, try a workout they’ve used to get in shape for battle. Gossip about the book, gossip about life – new year, new kind of fun. Take turns in hosting or set it up for your birthday.

I’m thinking ACOTAR Valaris theme, I’m thinking Lonely Hearts go to Thailand theme, I’m thinking It Ends with Us theme. So many! OR its all about the crafting and the season maybe; winter quilting craft night, spring bulb potting, summer beach bag weaving, autumn pumpkin cup, Christmas gift making. The limit does not exist! (Was Mean Girls ever a book?)

If this all sounds amazing but you’re unsure where to start I’ve made a few options that might help; blog and social media posts, links to products, printable packs, I can send you all the bits you need. And if actually you just want to attend and enjoy the whole thing with your family/friends, invite me to do it all or better yet, come to mine. For now I have a conservatory but I’m working on doing up the greenhouse because how cute?! Lets conservatory, craft and cake!

I’m excited!

I got a bit ahead of myself on my Harmony Books & Crafts idea but in case you’re wondering – I’m Kirsten, I’m in my 30s and live in a do-er upper with my husband and dog near Biggar in Scotland (in between Edinburgh and Glasgow.)

I’m utterly book obsessed, I read and listen to different genres, and I’ve always been in to crafting. Am I an absolute master crafter of an individual thing? No. But I am what some nice Scottish man on Tiktok calls a ‘multipotentialite’, and what Mystic Michaela calls a ‘purple aura’ so basically I like trying different things, I like getting in to and making everything I can and love helping others do the same.

This site started because I have spent a long time soul searching and wondering what the goodness I’m meant to be doing. I’ve honestly had such huge opportunities to work it out but have never fully committed to any one thing. I’ve had a blog before that I really enjoyed working on until I started to let the embarrassment and vulnerability creep back in and began to overthink it. I can spend months overthinking an idea or a small part of an idea and then decide too many other people do it really well and so I don’t and I think of something else and end up not very far from where I started. But I’m consistently working on being brave and vulnerable so here we are!

If all this sounds like you or you’re interested in what this is about, lets be friends! Subscribe for updates and the latest blogs, join me at one of the craft workshops and meet ups or if you’re here to gossip about the residents of Valaris, comment / come to book club!
